Our onion marmalade was a huge hit at the wedding. Guests were drooling over it, wanting more and more. I thought I would share the recipe with all you lovely people out there. If you’re not too handy in the kitchen you can always buy a bottle from us at R15 a jar 🙂 what a win!
This recipe is for one jar only.
2 large onions (550gr) sliced
120gr brown sugar
125ml red wine vinegar
50ml balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper
combine onions and two tablespoons sugar. Cook at a medium temperature for about 25minutes or until caramelised. Add the vinegar and balance of sugar. Stir every few mins until most of the liquid has evaporated (about 15mins). Season with salt and pepper and decant into sterilized jar. TA DA!
