Amongst all the yummy goodness in our picnic baskets, is a tiny little tub full of this weird brown smudge. This is called Hummus, and it’s delicious! But we’ve realised that a lot of our clients are not so sure about this little brown tub of goodness and it always ends up coming back home with us. Untouched. So I decided it’s time I introduce this little tub of magic to the world out there!
see recipe below:
do yourself a favour, and try out our SUPER easy recipe:
2 tins chickpeas (1 can drained, and 1 can’s fluid retained)
2 tbs smooth peanut butter or tahini (ALLERGY ALERT)
2 tsp ground cumin
4 cloves of fresh garlic, crushed
1/3 cup lemon juice
3 tbs olive oil
Generous pinch of cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Blitz all the ingredients together with a stick blender, decant into small containers and refrigerate. This will last in the refrigerator for 2 weeks + in unsterilized jars.
funny story: my husband loves hummus so my mom will make him an extra tub every now and then (quality check) and the one day he told me that this specific batch my mom had just made was the best she’s ever made. Not knowing, that my mom accidentally replaced cumin with cinnamon giving it a very different kind of flavour! moral of the story: hummus is super versatile and you can NOT mess this recipe up.
